Time: 00.20Hello Brian, due to an unusual event in the sky last night, I have just Googled - UFO+Bristol+26+June+2010 and your site came up at the top of the list. So I thought I'd respond to your request for other sightings.
We live in Yatton, south of Bristol and last night, at about 00.20 hrs we saw a travelling, orange, very bright, sparkly light travelling in the sky.
We were out in our back garden, looking north (towards Bristol). The light appeared from the west and travelled east at a fair old speed, smoothly across the sky. As it crossed due north, the sparkly light appeared to extinguish. We could still just about see the object continue to travel. We watched it in total for about a minute until it disappeared.
The light looked just like an orange party sparkler. There were no clouds, it was a very clear night last night and the light pollution in that part of the sky is not severe.
We've been watching the Space Station this week, the light last night was on a totally different trajectory and much more northerly and moving faster too.
We are also on the flight path for Bristol Airport and used to seeing planes in the sky at night. Last night's light was definitely not an aircraft. It wasn't a shooting star either. We wondered if it was a bit of space junk burning up as it fell to earth or maybe a meteorite? We are both quite keen on a bit of casual sky watching, we know what stars and planets look like. What we saw wasn't either of those! We hope this information is useful to you and we'd be keen to know of other sightings of or opinions about this sparkly, orange anomaly! Kind regards.
If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.
