Date: September 13, 2010
Time: Evening.Hello Brain, last night I watched 2 bright flashing lights in the sky for about 20 minutes before they moved into the distance. The lights did not always come from exactly the same place, suggesting to me they were part of a larger object, always flashing 2 at a times with a slightly erratic pulse. Brighter than the stars, but not as large as Jupiter which was very bright last night (14th September).
I have lost track of how many times have seen these now. The first sighting was in April of 2010, which was a huge orange light in the sky, not the sun around sunset. I have seen yellow lights, orange, a very large red one (several times), white ones, flashing ones, formations of yellow and orange.
My brother watched a formation/triangle of lights above his house for about 20 minutes earlier this year. My neighbors have also witnessed some of these sightings and were completely dumfounded. Most times the lights are too high up in the sky and too distant to be (groan) Chinese Lanterns. I have used binoculars on many occasions, and sometimes there appears to be a large "body" behind the lights, usually the flashing ones. I live on a hill with very little obstructions around me and can see out to the North Sea.
I live in Arbroath, Angus, Scotland. Just after the New Year there was an article in the Dundee Courier about the lights after so many people from all around the area witnessed similar sightings, most emphatic that they could not have been lanterns due to the distances, speeds and movements involved.
PS. I can occasionally see airplanes flying overhead, once the same time as observing the "weird" lights and they are not comparable at all. The airplanes are at a constant speed and direction, and the lights were much smaller and dimmer and you could hear it. Yours sincerely.
If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.
