Vertical Orange Beam Of Light Seen From Edmonton Alberta

Date:  January 11, 2012
Time:  11:30 p.m.

Good Afternoon, last night around 23:30 MNT in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, my husband noticed a vertical orange beam to the east of the moon. At first we thought it was a beam from a neighbors house light, but as we watched the light it was like it was alive.

It would fade and brighten, grow longer and shorter, and almost disappear then come back.  It looked like the sky was going to split open, what an amazing sight! We enjoyed watching the orange light dance for a few minutes, then it faded away.

What was that?

  1. I witnessed this light at about 11:15 that night while driving home. The 3 other people in the car with me all saw it as well. When we got home I stood on my deck and watched it until about 11:45 at which point it seemed faded from where I was. Never seen anything like it before.

  2. Yes we have witnessed the same thing, i tried to get it on my cell but wouldnt record because its just not the same as using a high tech camera, I immediatley notified a few ppl and they too said yes they can see it, the light seemed to pulsate then slowly turned from orange to white then faded away. On January 6 th at around 10:30 pm I saw a round bright orange object coming from the west travelling east, slowly gliding thru the sky, it was not as high as an airplane nor helicopter, there was no sound as it passed by my house just to the north a bit. I have absolutley no idea what this was as ive never seen it before. Would be interesting to find out just what was this ? !

  3. Just saw this in Texas, couldn't explain what it was. Matches everything you guys said about it. It starts out bright orange and starts glowing then starts to fade away slowly. Looked exactly like a split in the sky.

  13. My family and I just saw four lights in North Dakota over Watford City. They were orange and seemed to be in a diamond shape. At first we thought they were part of the oil field but they had no source and more of them appeared for about ten minutes until they faded.
