Over 200 Witnesses Observe UFO And Beam Of Light In British Columbia (Written Report/Letter/Newspaper Article)

(Witness) - I talked with a scientist at the HR MacMillan Space Center/Planetarium in Vancouver, British Columbia.

He seemed to not believe in UFOs nor even the some 10,000 Crop Circles worldwide phenomena.

He suggested what they saw was simply the International Space Station.

Canadian UFO Investigator Brian Vike's Note: The above text I typed up is from the letter as you will see. Everything else below is the letter I scanned in and posted. The only thing I removed, was anyone's personal information.

The name Carolyn is from the newspaper (Cranbrook Daily Townsman Newspaper - Article ran August 12, 2003)

I did speak to Carolyn and eventually an article was done over the sighting.

Also there was the International Space Station that did fly over around the time of the sighting, but the sighting was over something else.

Also, there was a Fireball that flew over around the same time of the sighting.

So we know of two things that flew over the entire area around the time the witness had their sighting.

What came next, I wasn't prepared for. When the newspaper ran the news article they included my contact, email, website at that time, and my phone number which I gave the OK for.

Well in came the first call, a witness was reporting what they saw, then another call, and another, and another. Honestly, the phone never stopped ringing. This went on for almost a week. People wanted to file a report as they saw the unknown thing as well. Actually the phone rang so many times I grabbed my fishing rod and we went out to the river to have a break.

It ended up I took well over 200 phone calls and a few emails from this sighting. I know some folks believe it was one of the two things I mentioned above, these being the International Space Station or a Fireball.

But what people reported to me was no Fireball or the International Space Station. This was something odd, what, I don't know. Maybe if people had the chance to listen to all of the mini audio tapes I have over this, they might think differently. So for me, this was a UFO event that so many people observed.

Newspaper Carries Story On Mass UFO Sighting At Howard Colorado (Diagram/Newspaper Image)

Hi Brian, Here is a news print from the Salida CO Mountain Mail. This was a mass sighting December 23, 1995 at 9:30 p.m. near Howard CO, 10 miles east of Salida.

I have seen the original several times of this picture. I would say it is one of the most spectacular cylinder of light I have seen. Duration was 20 minutes. The glow in the picture is the fact that the pillar of light illuminated the surrounding country side for at least a mile in all directions almost like daylight.

It appears to be coming out of saddle between 2 knobs of hills 5 miles north of Howard CO. Myself and the local news director for the radio station spent a day walking around in this remote area. We walked a mile from the nearest 4 wheel drive road to access the area.

Witnesses reported it dissipating from the top down and appearing to shoot up into infinity. Freaked out some too as it was 2 days before Christmas. With the incredible UFO activity in this area my belief is that it was some type of star gate or worm hole.

The energy had to be mind boggling to illuminate like it did. It shook up some as they thought it might be the arrival of Jesus as it was 2 days before Christmas.

I didn't personally witness this particular sighting, but know many who did. It took me a year to locate the original picture taker and talked him into bring it to the local paper in conjunction with the Travel Channel coming down to do a story on Salida and CO and my previous UFO videos and pictures.

This is one of many of the major events in the local area that were ignored and overlooked by about everybody back then. Feel free to post this report and picture on your site and rense.com. I am also in the process of transferring my 1995 daylight cigar footage onto DVD. My 6 year old daughter was the original witness at our home. She was also with me in 2002 when we believe we filmed the same craft in South Park CO.

Fox news in Denver did a story on it with an excellent correlation of cigar stills and footage from around the world I received from others. I am also sending you an artist rendition from the perspective we had through binoculars of my 9/27/95 video. In that one we had 5 people at my house that were able to study the craft for over an hour as it danced and hovered near and out from the corona of the sun. It was reported from numerous locations around the state that weekend.

We believed it to be about a mile in length. Lab estimates range from 700 feet to 1/2 mile. Let me know if you want more material. Take Care.

"The whole province has been really busy." - Brian Vike.  

After a very quite year, the Northwest is once again becoming the hotbed of UFO sightings.

"The whole province has been really busy," said Brian Vike, a world-renowned ufologist from Houston. "I haven't a clue why, 2005 was really dead."

Vike says he gets hundreds of reports a year from all over the world to his website www.hbccufo.org, but the sightings that really get him excited are the local ones.    

The most recent of those occurred just three weeks ago in Hazelton. Three witnesses reported seeing a green object rise above the mountain, dash across the sky then disappear.

A week before, two reports came from Topley and Moricetown of very similar incidents on the evening of April 24. And on February 12, three people from Houston reported watching an egg-shaped object hover above Mount Harry Davis for two or three minutes before dropping out of sight.

Although Vike is a believer in extraterrestrial life, he said he ends up debunking most of the reports he gets. That was the case April 24 when numerous residents of Terrace witnessed brilliant blue lights in the early evening sky.  

Vike tracked that incident to a meteor breaking up low in the atmosphere. "What residents of Terrace saw is a rare event and not to many folks get to see such a fantastic sight in broad daylight," he said.  

Then there are the completely inexplicable cases like two Kelowna women who are unable to account for several hours of their lives after they sighted a mysterious object in the sky.

Both women sustained mysterious scars and have reported unceasing nightmares since.   That case is the subject of a segment on CTV's Creepy Canada May 26 and 27. Vike appears on the show as an expert.

Bulkley Valley Hotbed of Interstellar Activity

In 2002 and 2003 we were duded the UFO capital of Canada as so many sightings were coming in, and large cases. I can tell you, it had me running around.

Cross Roads For The Galaxy

A thick cloud cover blanketed the Bulkley Valley on the night of February 1, 2002. A day's shopping in Smithers behind them, three women drove down Highway 16 on that Friday, chatting casually about goings on in Houston, their hometown and the trip's destination.

After they passed through Telkwa, around 8:45 p.m., a light in the sky ahead of the car slowed their conversation. Even though the woolly sky reflected back moonlight glancing off the snow, this light stood out oddly in the luminescent, northeastern night sky.

And when it poked through the cloud cover and descended in their direction as they continued down the highway at 90 kilometers per hour. The woman driving slowed the pace of the car to 50 kph. What was this thing? They had to get a better look. But, when the intensity of the light increased as it neared the car, the image of some sort of craft also began to take shape, startling the driver, causing her to step harder on the gas and propel the car forward.

A boomerang-shaped craft, with seven, bright, white lights and two orange lights at either end, appeared. It took a few seconds for the car to pass from under the craft but soon the silvery glow of a winter night sky in the Bulkley Valley closed in around the three women.

That episode ignited one of the most active months of unidentified flying object sightings in the Bulkley Valley in some time. In fact, with 11 reported sightings from 19 witnesses, the area drew national and international attention from ufologists, said Brian Vike, a ufologist and UFO field investigator based in Houston. He has been besieged by calls and requests to provide supporting documentation and insight into this phenomena.

George Filer, the top ufologist in the United States and publisher of the Filer's Files, a weekly newsletter for sightings, has had him as co-guest on National Public Radio's Jeff Rense Show - particularly in the last month since the Bulkley Valley became the crossroads of interstellar traffic.

The February 1, 2002 sighting is on file with the Smithers RCMP but, although they aren't ruling out a craft of some sort, they feel it might be something less glamorous than a UFO. "Whether it was an aircraft or not hasn't been confirmed," said Cpl. Claudette Garcia.
Each of the reported cases Vike has investigated is unrelated. No sightings have been recorded in March so far; in the same time last month Vike had four already.

"So what happened in February? There was definitely a flap here," he said, using the ufologist term for a proliferance of objects being sighted. "We've had this big flap going on, it's just went through the roof.  What is it they're seeing? "

The three Houston women, all thirty something, married adults, were credible witnesses, Vike said. But he could not reveal their names due to his intent to retain the confidentiality of the witnesses.  "With UFO's people have a funny way of looking down on (witnesses).  A lot of people get made fun of " said Vike.  "People start coming up with some alien idea".    Credibility is something which Vike has struggled with since he dedicated himself to investigating UFO sightings 4 years ago.  Working in a field which most rational people consider to be populated by dreamers, charlatans, and daft fellows wearing multi colored beanies with a propeller fixed on top,  he quickly established a name for himself internationally for the thoroughness and detail of his investigations.  And living in a province where people are considered the most likely in the nation to witness a UFO sighting ... according to a survey done by Winnipeg based ufologist, Chris Ruskowski, in February gave the retired Houston forest products worker plenty to do.

"I don't just get a report, write it and post it to my website," Vike explained.  "I investigate".  "I do whatever I can do, make phone calls to authorities ....  You've really got to try and track stuff down." In the month since the February first sighting, Vike has been narrowing the possibilities.  Some explanations for the lights were:  airport lights; helicopters; small, fixed wing planes; ski-doos on mountain sides; stars - all of which he ruled out for different reasons.  

"What I'm working on here, I can't come up for an explanation for it,"  he admitted.  "I've talked to guys across Canada and they can't come up with anything.   Right now it's unknown, but I've got to try and figure it out for myself or it will go down as unknown."

Seven federal government and five military hits to his website have been recorded since the beginning of February.  There was the odd hit to the website by government previously, Vike said, but so many its during a time of inordinate amount of sightings is peculiar.    "So why are they all interested in it if they aren't really interested in UFO's to begin with, as they say?"  Vike asked.    Vike was certain there had to be other witnesses to the Telkwa sighting and yet, other than the three Houston women, no-one has come forward.  A letter he wrote to the Houston Today uncovered unrelated sightings, but nothing further about February 1st.   He hoped plain curiosity, the sort which transformed an amateur astronomer into a ufologist, would compel those people to call him.  "I've always had this belief that we can't be the only ones in this vastness", he surmised.   "There has to be life of some sort out there.  If I can explain this, I will," he concluded.   "If I can't .... I'm not going to sit here and pull the wool over anybody's eyes.  I want to know too and that's the whole point of doing this."

 Bright Objects In Night Sky

I hope my letter finds you well. The reason I am writing today is to enquire if your newspaper have received any strange reports of bright objects in the night sky. I have been working on two separate cases, here, a sighting from Telkwa in which there were three witnesses to this event, and another here in Houston, B.C. where a couple had seen a very bright object over the Bulkley River.

I was talking with another investigator and he also received a report of the same type of thing taking place near Burns lake, B.C. So far I have interviewed three witnesses for a sighting on Friday, February 1, 2002 and two other witnesses for a sighting which took place on Sunday, February 3, 2002.

I now have information of another witness who came forward and now one other from the Burns lake area. The five folks I have interviewed are all married, with families and very creditable people.
The dates when this all took place would have been from January 31, 2002 right up to February 3, 2002. Or you might have a report from someone around this time period.

 Highway 16 Reports May Be Linked

A Houston, B.C. based investigator is wondering if people here have seen unusual, bright objects in the skies over Terrace. Brian Vike, an independent UFO Field researcher, says residents from Smithers to Prince George have reported a recent rash of UFO sightings.

He's wondering if people in Terrace saw anything out of the ordinary during the month of February that would be part of a pattern he's noticed east of here along highway 16.

Vike says a major sighting took place February 1, 2002 just three kilometers east of Telkwa, outside Smithers. Witnesses there reported seeing bright objects in the sky.  Witnesses in Houston, Burns lake and Vanderhoof reported seeing something similar.

To date, Vike has received reports stemming from about January 31 to February 3, 2002.

Rash Of UFO Sightings Continues Over Central Island

The sightings of strange, unidientified objects flying over central Vancouver Island continue to pour in, says B.C. UFO researcher Brian Vike.

The latest sighting, he said, was spotted over French Creek on Oct. 13, just after midnight.

The witness, whose identity Vike keeps in strict confidence, said she was laying in bed with her eyes closed at about 12:15 a.m.

Strange Lights Over Cloverdale

A couple of nights before Christmas Eve a Cloverdale man and his son were driving home along 60 Avenue west from 176 Street in Surrey when they were distracted by some unusual lights in the sky near their house.

The driver pulled over, grabbed his cell phone, and immediately started recording, hoping to capture the strange sight on video.

His Dec. 22 footage – since posted to Youtube – shows several clusters of bright, white lights that appear to change pattern and move against an inky black sky.

A boy across the street from Brian Vike's house was tilting a new-looking telescope at the moon last Tuesday.

Chances are, he saw what any budding stargazer would expect to see—eye-popping views of the massive lava basins and colossal impact craters that scar the lunar surface.

But if Vike's young neighbour ever spots something strange in the Houston sky, something he can't explain, he won't have to go far to make a UFO report.

"Just what I need," said Vike, laughing.

That’s No UFO - It’s A Space Station

A UFO investigator says there is a perfectly logical explanation for a set of strange lights being reported in the night sky in Central Alberta.

A handful of people from the area, including one person from Blackfalds, have contacted him after seeing a bright light moving across the southern sky. Adding to the intrigue, a dimmer light was seen following it for awhile, as if attached, and then suddenly darting away.

UFO's Over Pickering

Air traffic controllers say "no way" but there are three ambulance drivers, one policeman, and one deejay who are "damn sure" a dozen UFOs scanned Pickering's nuclear power station last night.

"For eight hours they were up there, floating around, zipping this way and that," said Andy parks, music director of 14 CHOO radio in Ajax. red, green, orange, yellow, hot pink?

"Maybe a mile high. I've seen reports on the news wire for the last six years about UFOs. Never believed them. But seeing is believing." Parks, following reports of UFO sightings last night, went with a news crew down to Pickering power station where the objects seemed to be centering.

With him were a number of spectators including Ajax Pickering ambulance drivers Ed Thornton, Murray Martin, and Russ Abram, Durham regional Police Constable Bob Usher was the commotion, drove down, and saw the "unidentified flying objects."

Abram said his 12-year old daughter Karen phoned from home saying that she saw "something strange over the lake" from their ninth-floor apartment....and Dad confirmed it was "strange indeed."

But air controllers in Toronto and Oshawa said last night they had heard word of sightings but "picked up nothing on radar."

"You never do on reports such as this," said Toronto International supervisor Don Finlay. "If you do, then that's news."

But Parks "swears" that last night Oshawa flight control tower confirmed the objects as "unidentified."

Last night, however, officials there said they "did not see any UFOs."

Parks, who has a private pilot's license, said "no planes move like that, no planes pulsate like that.

"Pickering's power station is one of the most powerful in the world. Right?

"Well, someone from another world is on to it now. Believe me!"

UFOs: To Be Or Not To Be

After an article on UFO sightings in Telkwa and Houston was published in last week's edition of The Interior News, reports on UFO sightings are flying in and credibity of the sightings are gaining momentum.

"I can't keep up with all that is going on, " said an excited and exhausted Houston UFO researcher Brian Vike.

A flurry of phone calls, on-site interviews and investigative research has left Vike with little sleep. Since the papers hit the stands, five witnesses came forward, claiming they saw the white ball of light Telkwa resident Gordon Stewart glimpsed on the evening of July 29.

After reading the paper, Quick teacher Dina Hanson called Stewart to share the details of her sighting, which she recorded in her journal the day after her experience. Her son, civic engineer Ryan Hanson also saw the object, which partially matched Stewarts's description.

The Hanson's sighting also took place July 29, five minutes earlier than Stewarts's sighting, traveling in a southwesterly direction from Quick towards Telkwa.

Both observations commented on the awe striking brightness and size of the light; the white and yellow hues and soundless travel at a speed, which exceeded the propulsion of a man-made object. Some of the differences between the two incidents was that Dina's light shape was an elongated circle opposed to Stewart's round one. Dina also noted a slight downward trajectory to her object, unlike Stewart's parallel flight pattern.

However, Ryan introduced that because the object was moving away from his mother and himself, the object may have just appeared to be dropping because of their perspective. Dina originally attributed her experience to a meteorite sighting, but after a phone call to a professor at the University of Northern B.C. revealed that meteorites produce sound, Dina is uncertain. "I am pretty cynical about things like UFO's, " she said. "But because there was no sound, I think it is remotely possible it was something else."

A Smithers family of late night hot tubbers comprised of both adults and children also contacted Stewart, sharing a similar story, adding that the light engaged in a series of loops. Smithers resident Dan Derbyshire was also added to the list in an unrelated sighting. However, he wanted to support those stumbling upon these unexplainable phenomenon's. "Sometimes people feel they are the only ones (that are seeing unusual sights)," Derbyshire said, "But I thought I'd let them know, they aren't alone."

Like many other UFO reports, the edges of reality expand with the number of incidents reported as viewers digest science fiction's fanciful imagination with tangible physical experiences. "It was not what I classify as a flying saucer," Derbyshire noted of the craft, which reminded him of a metallic 40-gallon barrel, heading towards Houston at an estimated 300 kilometers per hour. He stated he is a UFO believer, but dismissed his incident as an American flight exercise in one breath while pondering over why he heard no sound in another.

His experience neither fits H.G. Wells' War of The Worlds where aliens employ mass destruction in tea- cup-and-saucer shaped crafts nor did it fit with the characteristics of a man-made aircraft. Reality and rationale collided as he attempted to interpret what he saw. Unlike a plane, there were no wings on the ribbed object and its flight was soundless, Derbyshire noted. Unlike many UFO sightings, the object did not emanate a white glowing light nor assume the regular saucer form, he added.

Vike surmises Derbyshire's suspicions are correct after a series of phone calls attributed the sighting to a military reconnaissance drone. Although if this assessment is correct, many more questions arise about what is going on for Vike. "A secret military exercise?" Vike questioned. "Who knows". Vike's suspicions are rising as reports of military trucks are detected around Houston and the Telkwa High Road. Vike and his wife also saw and heard the hum of large turbo propellers of military type crafts flying over Houston on August 8. "Something is going on," Vike alleged. Despite the couple both seeing and hearing the two military crafts, the Smithers air tower told Vike there was no air activity in the Houston vicinity.

Stewart is heartened by the additional reports coming in. "(People) can't say I've lost my marbles," Stewart laughed. "There are too many people who have seen it. I am not the only one."
