I think I'm the neighbor that video taped this sighting as mentioned. I called the control tower 1/2 mile away, they said nothing was detected, however the next afternoon the executive pilot at the airport called me and explained that these orange orbs were CF-18's. Here's the link to YouTube where I posted the videos. I have some still shots too if you're interested. Thanks.
Additional Information:
Here's a short report of what we saw:
The weather was slightly overcast, and there was a small thunderstorm to the north nestled in the mountains . (we're in the Fraser River Valley) Light wind to the west. At 8:30 pm (till 9:00pm) we saw an orange light approach beneath the cloud cover, over the mountains from the north due south .
It came from the horizon to approximately 80 degrees overhead in less than 3 seconds (no vapor trail, completely silent). This was the type of aerial maneuver you see in a Spielberg film. When it came to the 1900 block of (removed) avenue it veered to it's left (moving slowly now) and hung motionless over our apartment.
This orb continued to hang in the sky motionless for 5 minutes, then seemed to blink out and shoot straight up. Five minutes later a second Orb (for lack of a better word) approached from the north at the same rate of speed as the first, stopped, began to move slowly and veered to the left and also sat motionless over our apartment, again for 5 minutes .
It just buzzed the tree-line north of us, so I'm estimating altitude at say 500 feet. It also blinked out and shot straight up out of view. 5 minutes or so after that, we saw two more Orbs approach from the north, same high rate of speed, one trailing the other.
Again as they approached they veered to their left and came into formation above us, one above the other. They also hung motionless above us for five minutes before shooting straight up. The flight path of all 4 objects was exactly the same, completely precise, all stopping in the same spot in the sky .
This would be 1 block north of Ford Road (19071)and Baynes Road (airport road), placing it within Pitt Meadow's airport's airspace. These were solid amber/red balls of energy 30 - 50 feet in diameter, no aviation lights, no flashers, no wings.
Through binoculars they were absolutely spherical and radiating amber/red energy, like looking at the sun through a sun filter. The color was solid and continuous, each orb having an "aura" of light. The light seemed uniquely different, like a light bulb is different from an L.E.D.
No distinguishable fuselage markings or the like. No sound, no vapor trails, no sonic boom. They seemed to be as if alive, they did not seem like craft. They moved with an indescribable grace. There were 20 or so people stopped on 122 avenue watching this, including an RCMP officer. Our cell phones became intermittent, working then not. My camera was also behaving strangely.
The video was shot on my still camera (unfortunately) it's a Kodak Z740 38-380mm lens. I've also taken daytime photo's from the same location I shot the sighting, to provide
some reference .
I phoned the control tower the night of the sighting, and got no response. I did however, receive a strange phone call the next day from a man called (name removed) who claimed to be from Pitt Meadows Airport. He told me what I saw was 4 CF-18 jet fighters. The funny thing was, he told me there was one CF-18 a few minutes, a second, and a few minutes later, 2 in formation on approach to land. Exactly the flight patterns we saw.
Pitt Meadows Airport is light aircraft only. He also tried to sell me that when these aircraft are below 1000 feet, their light beacons merge into one. Please. My apartment is below the flight approach to land at the airport. I've been here 6 years and I've flown out of Pitt Meadows Airport many times with a friend who's a pilot .
I've seen thousands of planes/helicopters and are familiar with most military aircraft/helicopters. I asked him how many CF-18's he'd seen that could hover motionless for 5 minutes at a time.
At that, the phone conversation ended.

I thought this was good footage (shot on a tripod to boot !) No one seems to be too interested. Go figure.
Thanks very much.
