Full Description of Event/Sighting: Hi Brian, driving along the county road West of London I noticed 2 comets that were traveling straight 'up' in the sky. The sun was setting and I pulled over behind a guy and his wife, who as it turns out were watching the same thing. The sunset was spectacular and we joked that it was hard to decide whether to take our eyes off these objects in the sky or to look at the sun.
The objects path eventually crossed each other, but there was no trail if you know what I mean. They were in the west, slightly further west than the sun. While we chatted and watched the sky, we counted 5 more appearing in different parts of the sky around the original 2. Two were flying or falling down towards the earth, and 1 from the south was shooting up, and another from the north.
Only one stopped as it faded very low in the sky and we commented that it looked like a tiny sun just sitting there to the right of the sun. The sun was a beautiful red as it set, this other faded comet was a mere dot of a very pale orange.
All of the other comets just disappeared with no trails to indicate where they had been traveling.
In between traffic we listened for any sounds that might indicate air craft engines and we could hear nothing, even as 2 flew or descended over our heads. So this wasn't far away, it was the sky immediately over where we stood and directly west of us.
At all times these little comets or commas had the same little tails or short tadpole like trails, rounded at front, thicker and tapering off.
We waited around a bit as it began to get dark thinking we might get lucky to see what they looked like at night, or if something similar would show up but nothing. We noticed a fair amount of cars slowed down traveling west, but no one else stopped. These were very visible through the windshield as I drove and saw the one without craning to look, and quite spectacular.
That's about it, maybe someone has an idea about these comet/commas? Thank you for you time, once again.
