Strange Lights Over Parksville, British Columbia

Date: June 1969
Time: Late evening.

Location of Sighting: Parksville, B. C.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of objects: 3
Shape of objects: Lights.

Full Description of event/sighting: Late one summer evening I was on the beach in Parksville with a friend. At one point in the evening, I spotted two lights up island from us. It was hard to tell how far away they were, or how far apart the lights were. But they were in line with the airport and Canadian air force base at Comox, B. C.

I naturally assumed they were helicopters or flares. Sometime later I noticed that the two lights had not moved. There was no noise that we could hear, and there was no movement of the lights.

The evening was quiet, with no wind, so if they were helicopters, I thought we might have heard them. And judging by the size of the lights, I knew that if they were helicopters, they were closer to us than to Comox. Since there was no movement of the lights, I dismissed the possibility of them being flares.

About 20 to 30 minutes had passed at this time when suddenly the lights reappeared to our right and at a slightly different elevation. This time the lights stayed in this spot for at least 10 to 15 minutes, maybe more. The next time we looked, they were gone.

What makes this sighting so interesting, is that on this website, I found a report of a very similar sighting in New York, same month, same year.
