Orange Colored Lights/Objects Seen Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Date:  March 22, 2015
Time:  8:00 p.m.

I just (8:00 p.m.) saw 4 similar lights heading north west from what appeared above down town Nanaimo.

One first, then 2 together and then one solo again. They were orange, not red and seemed to be identical.

I have had many years of aviation involvement and am familiar with glide paths angles of attack, drift et al.

A few years ago I did see something similar, which was even more weird!

I also have seen Chinese lanterns, and these they were not.

 Any Ideas ?

UFO/Object Found In Photo Taken From Nanaimo from Gabriola Island British Columbia (Picture)

Location of Sighting: Over Newcastle Island in Nanaimo Harbor.

Full Description of event/sighting: I was out on the deck on the front of the ferry to Nanaimo from Gabriola Island on the 5:10 p.m. run with my camera and binoculars experimenting taking shots through the bino eyepiece.

I took about ten shots that way, not being able to see weather or not the shots were out of focus.

I only discovered this image as I processed and deleted all the rest, but for this one. I was not aware of any craft when taking the pictures.

It is quite unmistakably lens shaped with the sun reflecting from the other side in the late afternoon sunset.

Bright Orange Red Light/Objects Flew Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Date: December 31, 2015
Time:  9:30 p.m.

A. I stepped out onto my front sidewalk this evening for a cigarette.

 B. As I looked to the sky directly north, I witnessed a bright orange/red object at around 60 degrees.

 C. I observed and then it appeared to be high in the sky which and the sky was clear without any clouds. The moon was approximately a 3/4 moon.(not full) and was located roughly behind me.

D. The object I saw appeared to be roundish or slightly oval. It was not strobbing or flashing, just a constant color and very bright. It was moving in an easterly to northeasterly direction toward Vancouver, British Columbia area.

E. There was no sound and no jet trail even at its furthest point I watched it.

F. I watched this one object for about 30 seconds and looked ate the phone which was showing 21:30 to be the time.

G. I then quickly went into my home and called my mother from her room to come see this anomaly. We both arrived outside in approximately 40 seconds.

H. Once we arrived outside, the one object was still present, however two of the exact same looking objects were now also showing up from the same area of the first.

I. The second and third object were identical and behaved the same as the first, and resembled the first in all ways we noticed. The only difference was the two new objects were close to each other and further away from the first.

J. Their speeds were constant and they suddenly sped up and within 5 approximately seconds and all disappeared.

Orange UFO/Object Looked Like An Aircraft With The Jet Engine On Fire Over Winchelsea Islands Nanaimo British Columbia

Time:  Evening.

My name is (name removed). On Christmas Eve my wife and I saw what appeared to be a plane moving southeast.

The whole rear end seemed to be on fire. (it looked like a huge jet engine). We are overlooking the Winchelsea Islands in Nanaimo.

There was no sound (like a plane or helicopter engine)

Ball Of White Light/UFO Spotted In The Sky Moving Upwards Over Nanaimo British Columbia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: My husband and I were enjoying the night sky, when we looked from Stewart Ave by the Ferries up toward the Hospital area, we saw a very bright light, which we assumed was a helicopter, but with no sound in the night air, we looked at it closer.

Thinking it was a optical elusion, this ball of light was not getting bigger as one would expect, with an approaching air craft. Instead it maintained it's size and brightness, then slowly went straight up.

The sky was clear and cool, so no clouds to interfere, or an aircraft climbing above the clouds. The reason I say this is because it went straight up, and slowly just vanished...? We both looked at each other, and said wow, that was weird. Just thought someone should know.

Triangle Formation Of Orange Lights In The Sky Over Nanaimo British Columbia

Date:  November 14, 2014
Time:  6:30 p.m.

Weather: clear skies no clouds, cool temperature close to freezing.

Reading the entry from October 31, 2014 from the sunshine coast, looking over the straight to Nanaimo, what my family saw tonight sounded a little similar.

We pulled into the DQ drive thru and immediately saw a wedge or triangle pattern of orange lights in the sky. We would have been looking west west north, and the wedge was slowly coming eastward towards us.

The lights disappeared one at a time. One reappeared for a few seconds, then disappeared again. As we were leaving the drive thru, another one reappeared close to where we first ones started.

As we moved through the parking lot, it appeared stationary, and looked to be a long ways away as all objects in the foreground moved at a content rated in comparison.

That would make it too high to be balloons or paper bag lanterns, and with no other lights, it couldn't be helicopters of traditional aircraft.  We tried to get pictures and video, but with the city lights, and the dark sky, it was just a black haze.

Bright Orange Light/Object Illuminated The Clouds Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Hi, I live across the straight from Nanaimo, I'm on the Sunshine Coast. Last night at midnight I saw a huge bright orange light over the mountains behind Nanaimo.

It lasted a couple of minutes and slowly moved westward out of view behind the peaks. It was so bright the clouds above it were illuminated.

Considering how small typical lights are in Nanaimo from this distance, this thing was massive. Have you heard of any other reports?

Object Gives Off A Yellow/Green Light Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Today between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. my wife saw an irregular object hurtling in the sky giving off a yellowy-green light here in Nanaimo.

It lasted, oh, 3 seconds, and then disappeared. Since this is 2 years (and 7 days) after the earlier sighting, I'm wondering if we're looking at the earth going through a meteorite cloud on its annual journey.

Huge Circular UFO Top And Bottom Hidden In The Clouds And Tree Line Seen South Of Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: I have no blinds on the windows of my house and my bed is situated right next to the window on the second floor. If I wake up in the night, I'll often look outside as I roll over, and especially with a full moon, as I have a beautiful view.

That night/morning, I woke up, looked at the clock and rolled over, looking outside. I'd only been asleep for just over an hour. The moon was positively brilliant, and as I looked closer, I realized it looked very odd.

It looked huge, very close, and just above the tree-line. The bottom part wasn't visible behind the trees. the top part appeared to be hiding behind clouds, too, and it wasn't reflecting light, it looked like a huge spotlight, or maybe 2-3 lights in a horizontal row, but huge lights.

The light wasn't really shining across the small valley towards my house, though, it was shining further to the north.

Let me just say that it looked odd enough that I ran quietly downstairs, and out on the back deck, to look at it. quietly, because I had company. I have never done something like that before.

It was emitting light - it didn't appear to be reflecting light, like one would expect. there did seem to be a bit of cloud above it, and I somehow rationalized, after staring at it for a few minutes, that I was just tired and the clouds were making it look weird.

It wasn't until I got back to bed that I questioned it's position. I didn't think the moon should be that low at that time of night, so I did look out at it one more time.

The next morning, I asked my visitors where the moon would be positioned at that time of night, and explained what I had seen the night before. They had all kinds of explanations, and I ended up feeling ridiculous.

The night of September 27, 2012, I noted the position of the moon at about 9:00 p.m., as I could see it from my bathroom window.

I got up at 5:00 a.m. the following morning to get ready for work and was stunned to see the moon in about the same position, vertically, that I had seen it 2 days before at 12:30 at night, except much higher in the sky.

There is just no way that the course of the moon is going to change like that. I have to say that the object I saw originally was not the moon.

I'm really regretting not taking a picture that night, or waking up the visitors, as that visual is absolutely haunting me. I have no idea what I saw. Whatever it was, it was very large, and very bright, and sat motionless for at least 10 minutes.

Now that I have discounted the moon as a possibility, I can say that I was close enough that I would have heard sound, and there was none. If it were at the tree-line, it would be about 300-400 yards away.

If I were to describe the shape, I would say a circle with both the top third and the bottom third removed, or the top was hidden in the clouds and the bottom behind the trees.

The trees are at the top of a small ridge, 100' Douglas Firs, so it wasn't a vehicle. The visible area of the object was filled entirely by the large spotlight (s).

I would even go so far as to say that the "spotlight", beam that I could see in it's entirety had a black spot in the middle.

I don't know how to explain that any more clearly, except possibly by comparing it to a hand-held water nozzle with water spraying from around the outside, but there's a little spot in the middle that is clear.

Given the distance, I would estimate that the diameter of the "light" on the object would have been about 30'-40'.

This has been bothering me enough for the past few days that I'm submitting this sighting in hopes that someone else might come forward to say they saw the same thing. I'd really like to know what I saw.

I have never seen anything "unidentifiable" before.

Multi Colored Lights Seen Over Mount Benson Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: For the past few days, once night hits there has been strange lights over Mount Benson glowing with colors from red, green, white, orange and blue.

 

Some have been by themselves, well others have been in formation. Last night there was a bright white light moving in between them just to vanish into thin air.

 

Now I can't say I know there UFOs, but those aren't navigation lights and is the strangest thing I’ve ever seen in the sky.

 

 I see you live in Nanaimo, tonight look over Mount Benson as I would love to here other people's opinion.

Bright Multi Coloured Star Like Object Seen Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Hi, my name is (name removed) and I live in Nanaimo. I have seen the bright multi-coloured star many times here. People in Nanaimo don't seem to be too alarmed by it, even though it seems to be moving separately from the normal movement of the stars across the sky.

 

I have witnessed this with several people, all who dismiss it as just another star. We need some close ups of this thing, anyone with a telescope?

Red Lights Spotted Over Nanaimo On Vancouver Island British Columbia

Hey, I was home on the night of March 19th, 2012 when I got a phone call from my friend telling me he was watching some sort of UFO in the sky.

 

He told me to look out my window. I live in one of the high rises in downtown Nanaimo. I looked out towards the Hospital, but the lights had already gone.

 

I then went out on my deck and looked back as 2 red lights re-appeared in the sky over towards the hospital, they moved slowly upwards in an irregular pattern.

 

This all happened at around 10:00-10:30 March 19th, 2012 It was wild.

Red Lights Spotted In The Sky Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Time:  Evening.

 

My husband and I drove off the Tsawwassen Ferry late Monday evening, March 19th, 2012. We both noticed a red light moving slowly in the sky. It moved erratically, up, down, sideways, nothing like a conventional aircraft.  

 

It was very dark and raining, and the reddish light seemed out of place. We watched it for a couple of minutes and noticed another one higher in the sky in the direction we were driving (towards Parksville).  

 

The first light disappeared. The second red light was too high for my husband to see while he was driving, but I continued watching it move in the same erratic pattern, then it also disappeared.

 

I wish I could have photographed it, but with the rain on the windshield I didn't think it would be anything but a blur.  

 

Any other photos you've received of this sighting? This isn't the first time we've witnessed strange things in the sky. I'm curious how many others have seen these as well.

Red Lights Spotted And Filmed Over Nanaimo British Columbia (Picture)

Time:  Evening.

 

I saw what you were describing and got a weak picture of it it was cloudy and raining here when they were spotted a number of people in my building saw them as well I can be reached at (contact information removed).

 

Additional Information:

 

The one light is just of center of the picture, and the other one is more above it to the left. If you zoom in on the picture it becomes more pronounced.

My girlfriend called to me to see the lights and at first 2 bright orange-red lights were over the hospital area (I was facing the hospital from the other side of Duffrin Cr school) 

 

They moved to slowly and in irregular patterns which rule out aircrafts for they danced around one another, but they did move to opposite sides.

 

One hovered and went up and down then disappeared. They looked to be approximately 200 feet in the air near the end of the display. A third one appeared, bigger than the others.

 

It came from the direction of Hollyst. I believe best description I can think of for them, is that they reminded of those large red candles that glow orange in the middle when lit but the they just didn't fly off they disappeared

Three Balls Of Fire/Light In The Sky Over Nanaimo British Columbia

Good Morning, I am emailing you to let you know that I saw three balls of fire or light in the sky last night around 10:30 p.m.

 

I live in Nanaimo, B.C. and from my window, they came from the southeast side and went northwest. The first and second were much brighter than the third.

 

I did video tape the third one, but it didn’t turn out. They were not like meteors because they did not go in a straight line. Near the end of the sighting, they appeared to change direction.

Red/Orange Lights Seen In The Sky Over Nanaimo British Columbia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: Just after 10:00 p.m., (CBC News had just started) I am on Holly Ave in Nanaimo. Slowly, over the rooftops/tree line looking west, two orange lights begin to rise in the sky.

 

They are not balls of light, but seemed more like a Christmas tree star ✶. These two reddish/orange lights casually rose in parallel, with one slightly ahead of the other. They rose steadily to a 10:30 position.

 

The night sky was clear with just a few bands of light cloud, but as the first of these objects appeared to encounter the cloud, it disappeared from view. About a minute later, the second one faded from view, but not inside the sparse clouds.

 

The way the objects moved, reminded me of firework flares.

 

About a minute (maybe two) after the first two lights disappeared, a third rose up from the same westerly position. It reached about that same elevation and then faded.

Planet Like UFO With Rings Around It Seen Over Nanaimo British Columbia

Wow, my girlfriend and I experienced nearly the same thing last night. We saw a light traveling west to east at around 9:30 at night with no noise and at a odd slow speed. It looked as though it stopped and start to come down.

 

Maybe a 100 yards east of where we were standing I ran in the house to get a camera. When I came out the light was shining at us and getting larger. It looked like an 'O' with the center black. As I was attempting to take the picture, it sped off going east and disappeared in a few seconds.

 

The picture I took shows what looks like a tiny planet with 1 or more rings around it. Weird.

Group Of Orange Red Lights Over Nanaimo British Columbia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: My sighting began just after picking up a new printer at the local Staples in Nanaimo. I had just begun to pull out of the parking lot when I noticed due south, just behind and above the Home Depot, a group of red/orange lights.

 

It was odd enough for me to pull over and attempt to catch the sighting on my phone.

I stepped out of the van and as I filmed I witnessed 3, bright orange red spheres at roughly a forearms distance apart, slowly ascend from roughly the horizon and into the cloud bank.

 

They moved at the same rate of speed at a 80 degree angle upwards. A strong easterly wind was blowing but the lights moved very slowly westerly.

The color was the most striking part. It was an even light (no flickering) and it had a very warm reddish/orange glow which frankly looked out of place in the night sky. At one time it appeared that each individual light may have been comprised of 3 interconnected spheres.

I would very much like to know if anything was happening in that area (anything involving Chinese lanterns?). It was definitely not standard air traffic and no landing or identifier lights were visible.

 

The objects themselves seemed substantial enough that they may have posed a flight risk to local air traffic in that area.

Someone else must have seen this. It was happening during a busy seasonal shopping time.

Lights Over The Pacific Ocean At Nanaimo British Columbia

Hi there, I had just popped out for a smoke and I first noticed a very strange looking illuminated cloud. As I watched, it broke into two, before disappearing a few minutes later.

After they had disappeared, I noticed a much more vivid light seen closer to the ground, it had a sort of halo effect around it.

It would become dimmer and disappear, then another would appear shortly. They appear to be forming off the coast and at first, I wondered if they were flares, but they appeared to move very little and remained more or less in place for several minutes before disappearing.

It came back again and the light has turned orange, and can clearly be seen moving erratically around the same area. I am going to take my car closer to the harbour to see what I can see.

Witness Observes Disc UFO While Feeding The Deer At Nanaimo British Columbia Canada

Full Description of Event/Sighting: I live in an area where the lights aren't nearly as bright. There's a small forest and river near by, and I go outside once in a while if I'm awake and see the local deer out there. I was feeding one some slices of apple, and looked up to see how cloudy it was to anticipate the weather for later that day and I saw it. A disc in the sky. I thought I was seeing things, so I rubbed my eyes and looked again. Twice.

I felt so shocked, like I was stunned and couldn't move due to awe. If I held my hand out, it would be the size of my thumb nail (across). I could almost bet it was reflective, because staring at it, you could tell it wasn't glowing, it was like it was silver, and reflective. Dim, but definitely there. I've worked on military bases here before, and I know helicopters don't move like that.

It was like a swaying motion, but in that distance, it was moving back and forth maybe a mile or two, just back and forth. I watched for about 5-10 minutes before it hovered, then shot off really fast to the south.
