Blue/Green Flash Lightened The Entire Sky Over South Africa

Date:  April 21, 2012
Time:  10:00 p.m.

I’m from South Africa. We (myself and 2 friends) were sitting outside (21 April 2012,+- 10: 00 p.m.), and suddenly the electricity went down and a blue/green flash lightened the entire sky for 2 seconds and then the electricity went back on!

It wasn’t lightning as it was dead quite! That was so weird, and all 3 of us saw this. I have no idea what it was or what it could be!

If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

  1. At Sundaynight 22nd of April 2012 in South africa in Gauteng, I woke up at 02h00 on the Monday morning to fiNd the whole sky outside being lid up over the whole of Gauteng with a bright red light, almost as bright as daylight, outside my window. There was no fire and it is anyway impossible for any fire to have made the whole skie and surroundings look like daylight.
No newspaper news or anybody else have mentioned or written about this! Did anybody else see this?
    Kind regards,
    Annelize.

  4. Shrewsbury, PA. Last night (12/26/12)around 6pm as I happened to look out my kitchen window the entire sky lit up bright green in a huge flash. Then the power went out. The sky continued to flash green several more times.A neighbor informed us a transformer up the road had blown. I assumed that is what had caused the green sky, but now I am thinking the green flash is what blew the transformer.Power is back now, but very creepy!

  5. Blue/Green flashes are the common sight when a transformer blows out. It does not make a large noise as most of the energy is released as light. If you are not near enough see the primary flash, which can be brighter than the sun momentarily like an arc welder, then all you have to go on is the blue/green flash in the sky...

An EMP pulse will disable EVERY electronic device in it's range, from the power grid down to your digital watch, so if your cell phone is still working after you see the green light it's not aliens or EMP, it's just a transformer going up... :-)

  6. Hi, I am in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and I just saw a huge blue/green light flash across the sky.
I live on the last floor of a 21 floor building and can see pretty far on the horizon. The first flash was at the north west of where I am, downtown Montreal. I kept looking to see if it would happen again and there was a second flash right over me that lit the entire sky above. None of the lights flickered. It was very quiet. My windows are open and I could not hear any sound from it. Can you let me know what you think it is. Other than a transformer. There was no power outage whatsoever.

  7. Weird thing. We had the same thing happenin Durbanville, Cape Town, South Africa, around the same time. just thought of what I saw, and started googling and found this forum. Definitly something weird in the air if it happened so far appart! Maybe.a solar flare... caused a Magnetic annomaly?
