Triangular Formation Of Lights Hovering Over West Of Omaha Along Platte And Elkhorn Rivers Nebraska

Date: July 4, 2010
Time: Between 10:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

I just Googled "lights in the sky over NE" for July 4, 2010 to see if there was any explanation for what my husband and I saw that night while we were out driving around to look at the fireworks displays around the western edge of Omaha.

We live in a rural area just west of Omaha along the Platte and Elkhorn Rivers. We always drive along the river bluff areas on the 4th of July after dark to watch the fireworks displays from all of the suburbs and lake communities. Between 10:15pm and 10:30pm we saw three constant lights in the northeastern sky that seemed to be in a somewhat triangular formation, just hovering over the river valley, not moving!

At first we thought maybe it was some sort of parachute or fireworks, but we continued to watch it as we drove east toward hwy 275, and it never faded out or drifted down to the ground like a firework would, it just stayed constant. Very weird! We were both very uneasy about what we were seeing, but curious.

We decided to head home to see if anything was on the news about it, nothing. Then, after we turned off the TV, we went to sit on the back porch of our rural home, and the same formation of lights was to the south of our home. This was at least an hour later, about 11:30pm or so, and it was about 20 miles south of where we had seen it before! Too weird! We went inside and just quit talking, we didn't know what to say, denial I'm not sure.

We just went to bed and said no more about it since. This is the first time I've had the time to look up anything online, and I was shocked to see the posting from someone else in North Bend, which is just west of where we saw the lights! If you have any insight as to what this was, please let me know. Thanks.

If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.
