Multiple Sightings Of Flying Orange Balls Of Light Over Mansfield Woodhouse UK

Date: May 2010
Time: Approx: 10:00 p.m.

I’m writing to you regarding the phenomenon of apparent orange globes in the skies over Mansfield Woodhouse. Not only have I seen these, but my friend too who was in fact the person who showed them to me.

The first sighting. I was at home at night, around may 2010 roughly 10:00 pm playing video games when he said over the microphone “those lights are back in the sky again” I was obviously confused and asked him what he meant, to which he replied “look out your window, near St.Edmunds church.”

I looked out of my window and there they were, at least 6 low flying orange balls, they must have been going around 60 miles per hour as it took them around a minute to pass from one side of my view to the other. This was the first sighting.

The second sighting of these occurred around one week after the first. I had told my parents that both I and my friend had witnessed something strange in the skies, which they abruptly dismissed. That night I caught them at the corner of my eye myself.

They floated past my window, a good half mile away, around the same time, perhaps around 11:00pm. I quickly ran into my parents room and ushered them to the window, and were speechless, not being able to comprehend what they were seeing.

The third and final sighting came this year around June, after leaving my girlfriends house at around half past nine, i walked to the near by bus stop, as i was waiting i saw what i thought to be a plane, however the orange light (higher than what id previously seen) was not leaving a trail.

It also showed strange patterns of direction, showing that although it was traveling more or less overhead, it seemed to be drifting without a set course. I knew in particular that this was no ordinary thing as after watching this light for 10 minutes, missing the bus in order to do so, it disappeared, dimming like an ember.

Lights Around A Large Orange Ball Over Mansfield Nottinghamshire UK

Date: December 15, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:15 p.m.

Hi there I saw something similar to this last night.

My postcode is (removed), I looked online last night and this morning for any similar sightings and found yours.

I was watching TV around 10:15pm and saw a large orange ball shining through my curtains. Funny enough I thought the outside lamp post had decided to float off. I opened the curtain and saw what looked like a large orange ball that at first I thought was a helicopter in flames.

It was pretty close, but moved in the sky really quickly. After watching it for around 5 seconds it looked like the ball pattern was changing and I’m sure I saw some other lights around the orange glow.
The weirdest thing was that it just stopped in mid flight and sort of floated in the distance without moving.

Then it kind of faded out and completely vanished, I saw nothing whatsoever in the sky not even an outline of anything.

Very very odd !

I have heard there have been quite a few sightings in the last few years around the Mansfield area.

I looked on the local news today and there was nothing about crashes.

Let me know if you have any new info as I found this fascinating!

Orange Light Over Mansfield Road Derby UK

Date: October 27, 2010
Time: 6:45 p.m.

Last night I witnessed an orange light in the sky. It appeared strange, so I got out of my car to observe. The object passed directly overhead and then disappeared.

Height: Difficult to estimate the height, but would guess 1000 - 2000 feet.

Direction and speed of travel: Travelling in a north-easterly direction at approximately 100 knots (very rough guess as the height is also a rough estimate).

Description: The light was bright orange and steady with a 'cone' of orange light beneath it, similar to a searchlight, but only a very short cone. This cone appeared to be 'looking' from left to right either side of the direction of travel, and as it passed overhead appeared to be looking behind and again swaying either side of its flight path. There was no noise, no flashing lights, no other lights visible and no other shape apart from the light source, although difficult to confirm this as it was dark. Approximately 15 seconds after passing overhead it simply disappeared - there had been no deviation from its flight path or changes in speed prior to the disappearance.

I have no idea what this object was - it certainly was not a Chinese lantern, since it moved too quickly, it's light was much too strong and steady and it travelled in a perfectly straight line.

I have over 5000 hours flying Tornado and Hercules aircraft in the RAF, but still cannot identify what this might have been, which was why I looked on the Internet to see if there had been similar sightings.

Just thought this might interest you. Yours.

Ball Of Fire In The Sky Over Shelby Mansfield KOA Ohio

Date: September 4, 2010
Time: Approx: 11:00 p.m.

We had a sighting on September 4th, 2010 around 11:00pm. We were camping at the Shelby-Mansfield KOA (http://www.shelbymansfieldkoa.com/) and watched the same "fireball" type object that many are reporting.

A number of us at the campground stopped whatever we were doing and watched this object, so there are a good number of folks who witnessed this. We watched the "flaming" object travel the entire horizon from a north-to-south direction. We could not determine a shape, but it appeared to be a fire in the sky, moving quickly.

We watched it for a few minutes and even walked into other campsites to confirm the sighting. Our first hypothesis was satellite burning up, since it appeared to be gaining in elevation slowly before tracking upward out of site (did not fade over the horizon) thinking about space junk burning and skipping across the top of the atmosphere.

Thank you, feel free to contact us for more information.
