Air Traffic Controller Watches 10 To 20 Red Lights In The Sky Over Providence Rhode Island (Video Footage)

Date:  December 24, 2011
Time:  Approx: 9:30 p.m.

I got a video, but the quality is not great. At about 9:30 p.m. on 12/24/11 I noticed several bright red lights in the sky. They seemed to strobe and move very slowly. I would guess that they appeared at about 3000' and would disappear completely after about 1-2 full minutes at approximately 10-12000'.

These altitudes are pretty precise, I am an air traffic controller and can determine altitudes fairly accurately. They all seemed to originate and disappear at the same point in the sky as the previous and they moved in a arched pattern, yet they weren't evenly spaced.

When I saw them, I ran into the house and told my wife to come look. She agrees that this was not normal.
I quickly went onto liveatc.net and pulled up the 9-9:30 hour for Boston Approach to see if any pilots reported anything. Providence was not available for some reason. I found/heard nothing, but I didn't search long.

Please keep me updated on any new findings.

Orange Lights Over Longcommon Parkway In Elgin's Providence Subdivision Illinois

Date: August 14, 2010
Time: Approx: 9:30 p.m.

Saturday night (August 14, 2010) about 9:30 or so, my son and I were on my driveway on Longcommon Parkway in Elgin's Providence subdivision when I spotted an orange light in the sky traveling from the southwest, and moving northeast. As the first one faded out, a second one came into view, then it faded, and another one behind it.

He thought it looked like fire as if someone was flying a hot air balloon. I didn't think so as flying hot air balloons at night would be suicidal. Maybe there was more of them and we only caught the last 3? It did appear to be flickering like a flame though, He took some pictures with his phone camera. Any speculation as to what we may have seen? Thanks.
