It is 9:25 pm on April 5/2012 and I see the exact same thing and it is very strange. Very clear night and my family went out to appreciate a beautiful full moon and the clear stars.
This "star" was blinking blue, green, red and white so I assumed it was a jet or a plane or a helicopter up over Errington. I am looking from Parksville.
The strange thing is, 20 minutes later and it is still in exactly the same spot, very colorful and clear and obviously not a star. Very strange.

We saw this object from Qualicum Beach at the same time till about 1030 pm. It was in the Western sky over the Mt. Arrowsmith area and and moved slowly higher and lower in the sky. Mostly it remained in one position, with the lights rapidly changing from one color to another. I watched with binoculars and you could sometimes see a beam of yellowish light emanate from the object. It changed shape from a diamond shape to triangular, linear and crosslike. My partner took some digital pictures and video but it was a little jumpier than the real thing.It eventually sank out of view behind the trees. The lights seemed to be along the edge of the object. We are going to try to get a shot of it with a tripod if it comes back. We have sent B.V. a note about it.
