14 Red Lights Over Selden Coram Long Island New York

Date:  December 24, 2011
Time:  9:20 p.m.

Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: Approx: 14
Shape of Objects: Round.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: Driving home Christmas Eve tonight my wife and I saw approximately 14 distinct red lights in the northern sky over Selden/Coram while driving eastbound on the Long Island Expressway.

About nine of the lights were in a straight vertical line from the horizon straight up and a small group branching off to the right made a separate square shape. The lights remained still and then slowly came together, one by one burning out.

There were airplanes in the sky as well, but the color of the these lights were much different. They were not blinking. They were stationary individual lights. The lights were much brighter than the airplane lights, a deep reddish/orange, and remained stationary making different mosaic geometric shapes as the lights appeared to one by one move together and simultaneously burning out!

It was a very distinct and large spectacle unlike any flares, fireworks, or any aerial display we've ever seen.

  1. I saw two lights flying eastward over south of Wantagh. They flew in a irregular pattern, coming closer at times; they disappeared in a couple of minutes. Time about 11pm

  2. I too saw what was described in this posting on the same date and about the same time. My location was Medford ( the LIE was about one mile to the south of my location), looking towards the north easterly sky. However, I did not notice any of the round shapes appearing to "come together" but rather they appeared to "dim out" or some appeared to simply vanish. The foramtion I saw was as described, and indeed quite large in appearance!

  3. I am the original poster and here is my theory after some simple research:

I’m guessing they are TR-3B military planes doing a security patrol along the US borders during our holy holiday. In late August our house on the east-end of Long Island, Wading River, shook and we heard a large BOOM. Turns out, thousands of Long Islanders heard it and the news media looked into it. The Barnes airforce base up in Massachusetts admitted an F-15 had a pressurization issue and lost altitude rapidly and caused the sonic booms. http://prd.news12.com/articleDetail.jsp?articleId=290427&position=1&news_type=news

This is a similar phenomenon I believe but with classified planes. The reason we see the lights and then they disappear is because when these planes move out of formation, they move at extraordinary speed and the lights appear to dim or burn out. My hunch is, as per typical military style, they fly in formations . Sometimes they break apart and fly solo and then re-form at a specific location.

I’m actually pretty convinced these were fleets of hi-tech, classified military planes. Perhaps a few even circumnavigated the planet which is why there where reports from Dubai and other countries. I’ve heard these craft can basically go as fast as the pilot’s body can withstand the G-force exerted on it. So for a plane like this to completely circle the globe in just a few hours wouldn’t surprise me.
