I also live in Bathurst and my father and I saw something similar one night. It was a cluster of five objects that were metallic in colour.
They flew in a formation, but when we looked at them with binoculars, they had no wings or tail, so they were not planes.
They were metallic, but glowed orange. My neighbors came home and asked us what we were looking at and the four of us watched the objects until they disappeared over some trees.
