Hello, we've seen the slow-moving orange lights someone described on the website I visited with your email address on it, and I think they are Chinese floating lanterns that people are releasing recently, both from rural properties, and someone down near the waterfront, as well.
They move slowly through the sky, make no sound, and if they are high enough, it's hard to see the flickering of the flame inside (although sometimes they do appear to brighten and dim in intensity).
The first time I saw one was on Christmas Eve, 2011, over Hillcrest Park, and I was quite excited by it, not sure what it was until I found out some people I knew had been releasing these things out by Oliver Lake in South Gillies.
If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.
