Dear Brian, on July 9th 2010 I was vacationing at our trailer in the Ottawa Valley ; Golden Lake to be precise .Being so hot and humid , my sister, and a very close friend and I decided to go for a swim at approximately 10:30 -11:00pm.
When we got down to the lake I told the girls that I saw a strange orange star with a white beam directed onto the lake, but upon entering the water, we all 3 noticed that this so called star was very, very low over the water and did not twinkle like stars or even a planet for that matter.
We were well aware of the satellite that was supposed to be visible to the naked eye, but again this was far too low and just above the tree lines. It was orange, almost a reddish ball, but it seemed to turn very slowly and almost change it's shape.
At one point looked almost triangular. There was no noise like a plane or a helicopter so we ruled out anything from the Petawawa Base. It moved very slowly to the east and then slowly to the west and right back to the same spot over the water and again we could see the white beam on the water.
My Sister and (name removed) started to get scared, so they quickly made their way back to shore, but I waited a bit longer to watch. When it started to hover east and west again I decided to follow suit. Upon reaching our trailers, we all looked back only to see it completely disappear into thin air and in about 4 seconds it returned to a brighter triangle shape in the exact same spot.
We all told the exact same story to our husbands and waited to see if anyone else in camp had seen what we saw. No one mentioned it other than someone in town said he heard of a similar sighting in nearby Pembroke a night or 2 later.
I know what we saw, a UFO maybe! But we 3 saw it first hand and it was no plane or helicopter.
If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.
