Huge Flash Of Bright Blue Green Light Lit Up The Sky Over Whitmore Lake Michigan

Date:  December 15, 2011
Time:  Approx: 7:40 p.m.

I was driving home on US-23 Thursday, December 15th, 2011 and experienced the same thing. I was headed northbound at around 7:40 p.m. There were other people who saw the same thing because everyone slowed down when it happened.

Don't know what it was, but definitely not lightning. It was the whole sky and lasted longer than lightning would. Any ideas?

Additional Information:

Hey Brian, It took place in Michigan, US-23 north around 6 mile road. Think that is in Whitmore Lake. It lit up the entire skyline in front of me. I thought maybe it was some sort of plant or electrical explosion. It lasted longer than lightning and didn't have one distinct spot, it was the whole skyline.

A bright bluish-green. Maybe 2 seconds total, haven't seen anything like it before but like I said, there were definitely other people who saw it because everyone on the freeway slowed down when it happened. Hope this helps. I am very curious.
